Review by Kasey: This is number one on my list for how my husband, daughter and I have survived her months of colic! What we like about it:

- The Moby wrap was able to be used the day we brought our preemie baby home from the hospital.

- The Moby wrap swaddles your baby snuggly to you. If your baby likes swaddling as much as our does, this is the baby carrier for you.

- It spreads the weight out evenly across your back and shoulders and feels much better for longer periods of time (in comparison to our Baby Bjorn).

- There are a variety of ways to wear your baby with this carrier. We have used it 4 different ways so far. Being able to pull the cloth completely over her so she can sleep soundly is a plus. The instructions are easy to follow and while it looks difficult to put on, it really is quite simple after you’ve practiced it 3 or 4 times.

- The Moby wrap is easy to clean with being machine washable and dryable and there are no parts that can be broken or lost.

What we don’t like about the Moby wrap:

- If you plan on wearing your baby to go grocery shopping or other things out in public, you need to put it on before you leave the house. It can be difficult to put on in the car or in places where you do not feel comfortable with the wrap touching the floor (parking lot, public floor, etc.). This is not a big deal, but important to remember before you run out the door. During the cooler months, I put the Moby on, then my coat.

Bottom-line: The Moby wrap was an excellent purchase. Putting our daughter in it and walking around or bouncing on an exercise ball was one of the few ways to calm her during the height of her colic. Our daughter is now 5-months old and still enjoys the Moby. We expect to continue to use our Moby wrap for many more months.

PRO:

It is roomy enough to hold my 9 month old son who weighs 22 pounds, and he loves being in it. The wide padded shoulder strap makes it easy to wear without pain. In fact, it is probably the most back-friendly slings you can find.

I have tried a number of baby carriers (baby bjorn, moby wrap, other sling design) and this one is by far the most convenient. You can just throw it over your head and it is ready to go. This sling is easy to both tighten and loosen with baby in it. It has two large pockets on the outside, which hold a bunch of napkins, keys, and perhaps a cell phone and a hat.

Since I’ve had this sling, I have gotten a lot of compliments for it and I have been asked several times where one can buy it.

CON:

Be aware that this sling is pretty big. You can tighten it as far as you like, but if you are very short and slender, you may not like this product. (At 5’10″/slender, I didn’t have this problem, but it just seems to be likely.)

Like all slings, it goes over one shoulder, which makes it less back-friendly than a wrap, such as the Moby (though this sling is not bad at all).

This sling was worth every penny and I don’t know where I’ll be without it.

Review by Jennifer Bogart: The Sleepy Wrap baby carrier is the best baby carrier I’ve ever owned. I don’t say that lightly. I started wearing my babies when my first was born, over five years ago now. I’ve owned a Rebozo, Over the Shoulder Baby Holder, Kangaroo Adjustable Fleece Pouch, Ergo, Mama Baby Ring Slings, Shower Sling, Baby Bjorn, hmmm am I missing any? I wish that the Sleepy Wrap had been available with my first born. I wish that I hadn’t been intimidated by baby wraps in the past. My husband thinks we should buy more of them, in many different colours! They are certainly affordable enough – for a baby carrier that is so easy to use, .00 is a steal of a deal, I doubt you could buy a similar, high quality fabric in the quantity needed for that price! The Sleepy Wrap is made out of a mainly cotton material that is similar to a cotton French jersey, very thick, soft and high quality; much thicker and more durable than the other knit fabrics I have baby carriers made of.

Our Sleepy Wrap, in red (available in a variety of colours to suit any taste), arrived before our new baby did. The first thing I noticed was that the instruction booklet was first class. Printed on glossy paper, full colour, step by step photographs and clear instructions. Though I had been intimidated and NEVER considered buying a baby wrap in the past (how complicated all that twisting and tying looked) I was surprised at how terribly easy it was to learn the basic ties. The first time I tied too loosely and my two year old was a bit timid in the carrier. So I tied on again, making sure to tie it snug, not leaving any extra room (don’t worry, it will look like your baby won’t fit in, but that is where the special, stretchy fabric comes into play) – and this time when I put her on she felt happy and secure. I haven’t been carrying her in a sling or carrier much during this pregnancy, so she was out of practice, but she caught on very quickly.

The Sleepy Wrap is definitely one size fits all, from teeny tiny Mamma’s to 9 month pregnant mamma’s (like I was when mine arrived). My second daughter is a big two year old, over 30 lbs. and quite tall. Due to my pregnancy I tied the wrap under my belly, and it didn’t make it around to the back again, but no problems! One thing I am very pleased with is that the circulation in her thighs was never cut off, her thighs never discoloured, the fabric never pinched, and it was very soft and comfortable against her legs. We’ve had problems with thigh constriction in other slings and carriers in the past – in order to get the child high enough and close enough to my body I had to cinch them in pretty tightly, sometimes resulting in thigh marks and discoloration….ick!

This is really the best carrier for getting your baby high and tight, once you have the wrap tied on snuggly, the rest is so simple, just pop your child in and you are ready to go with a high, tight, close, secure hold. Soon after my third baby was born, we got to try the wrap with her. Very easy to use with her as well. When she falls asleep I can cover her head with some of the stretchy fabric to keep it from being floppy.

I did get the ties to go around to my back again, but you can leave them on the front if they don’t make it back around. I like to wear baby carriers with the fabric spread well over my shoulders and back for even weight distribution. I can do this so well with the Sleepy Wrap that I can hardly feel my baby on – more comfy than being pregnant! This miraculous stretchy fabric accommodates pretty near any size of child, just tying the carrier on snugly you can pop in either a newborn or a two year old, and you will still have a high, secure hold. This carrier will also fit any member of your family. My five year old likes to have me tie it on her so that she can carry her baby doll in it. She keeps volunteering to carry the new baby, but I think she needs to grow a little still before she can wear Sarah.

If you are a first time parent you can save yourself baby carrier buyer’s remorse and just buy a Sleepy Wrap to start with. If you are an experienced parent, you may feel reluctant to buy yet another baby carrier, or you may have felt intimidated by wraps in the past – I know that I certainly did. I encourage you to step out in faith and buy a Sleepy Wrap as well, it is really the best carrier that our family has owned, and I only wish we’d had one for our previous children, particularly my very fussy firstborn.

I tried the Hotsling first and hated it–my son is a big guy for his age and getting him in was a struggle, and then he would be curled into a little ball because it was so cramped. Now, at two months and 25 and 3/4 inches long, he can still ride in the cradle carry when he wants a nap close to me. Great for carrying him around when he needs to be bounced but my arms are tired. We’re still getting the hang of doing chores with him in it, but at least my arms are free to eat a snack. Easier on my back than the Baby Bjorn. Very easy to adjust, put on, and get baby into. My husband will wear it around the house because it is all black and relatively gender neutral, although he prefers the Baby Bjorn.

Review by Belle Gardner: I bought this for my second child. It has become such a part of our lives, I can’t imagine life without it. Sometimes I think it is a magic sling. Baby loves to be in it. It calms baby during fussy times. It lulls baby to sleep. It helps mama chase after big sibling while still holding baby. It goes with us everywhere: on trips, to restaurants, at church. I can sit through a 45-minute sermon with baby quietly sitting or sleeping in this sling! My husband wore baby to a conference and attended presentations with baby quietly in this sling! We go out to eat and to weddings with baby in this sling! We are confident enough to take baby anywhere, because we know this sling will work its magic.

I am surprised by how comfortable it is. I find it much more comfortable than a BabyBjorn, for example. The shoulder strap is well-padded and really distributes baby’s weight evenly. I have no soreness or aches from using this sling. Just be sure to follow the instructions and place the strap on your shoulder and not on your neck.

The elastic rail is great for holding baby in place. The pocket (which is on both slides) is perfect for holding a pacifier, baby toy, or other small object.

I bought brown because I wanted it not to clash with most of my clothes (and I always wear brown shoes). I have noticed that it has faded slightly from exposure to sunlight, but this has not affected the sling’s performance or attractiveness, so it does not bother me.

Not wanting to spend this much money on a “carrier” of all things, I researched and considered carefully before purchasing this. All reviews and reports were accurate…This is definately worth the extra dollars.

The ease of use is remarkable. I can get baby in and out all by myself. From the day after Luca and I arrived home from the hospital, we were out for our daily walks. I sing in our church choir every Sunday and Luca is in his Bjorn close to me and we have never missed a Mass! It is always in the diaper bag when we shop because he ultimately ends up in his carrier. Even at age 13 months I use this daily! Now he sits forward in it and charms all he sees!

My older boys take Karate 5 days a week, so Luca is in the carrier facing forward and watching his brothers. My other mom friends are struggling with their toddlers and mine is content in his BJORN! A few of them even went out and purchased it after seeing how easy it is to use. Now we have our own section where we stand and let our babies talk and interact with eachother. My little guy is so content in his that I can even sit down using mine!

The BABY BJORN has become a regular part of my wardrobe! Before I get in the car, I put on my BJORN. I have two strollers in the back of the van but I never use them! This carrier is where he is most content!

Shopping, trips to the vet, doctors, karate, weekly Mass, recently a trip to the funeral home for a close relative, football games and sporting events, pumpkin patch and corn mazes, parades, summer carnivals festivals and picnics, I even ran stand for our church’s picnic last summer with my baby in his BJORN…and oh… the list just goes on and on.

I cannot praise this enough for the convenience it has added to my family’s life. There is NO staying home using the new baby as an excuse when your baby is #5! This carrier makes it so much easier! Easy in, easy out! When Luca falls asleep in his car seat he goes in this facing me. When he wakes up, he faces out. I can unfasten this and turn him aropund and re-fasten him without putting him down or passiong him off to someone else…that is the amazing feature of this wonderful product!

Seems intimidating at fira=st but believe me, you catch on fast! I cannot tell you how many of these I have sold in stores I just happened to be in shopping! Exasperated parents would just approach me asking me where I got my carrier. Several times I actually watched parents take this from the box on the shelves, put baby in, and pay for it on the way out!

No backaches for me. I am about 5’7″ and weigh about 115lbs. Luca is about 23 lbs. I have no complaints and on karate nights I am wearing him for about 90 minutes!

Unfortunately I have never figured out how to nurse baby when in this. I do recall reading that you could but I have found it impossible, at least for me.

You put your arms through the straps and the front of the carrier is open, you then take the front piece and snap it on (very easy) You can then place your baby on you and hold him/her with one arm and pick up the front of the carrier and bring it up over baby sliding the built in post-like fasteners into their respective color coded openings on the straps. Baby is safe secure and mom/dad has 2 free hands!

You really will not be sorry you splurged on this!
