Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat, Matrix Reviews

So I did a LOT of reseach before buying this, read multiple message boards, then to the store to look at them, etc. This replaced a britax that was passed down to DD #2 for my rather large 4 yo girl(40lbs, 40inches)I want to keep her harnessed for as long as I can. I finally decided to go for it b/c of
1)price (though it really wasn’t an object) but I am a big fan of bang for your buck,
2)sturdiness, i was never a fan of graco until i bought this seat. It’s got a nice weight, sturdy frame.
3)comfort, memory foam! DD loves it, she sleeps very comfortably in it without slumping over like she used to.
4)size, not gigantic like the regent but large it enough to have a big kid sit in it
I was concerned about its looks but it’s much better looking in person.
Finally, who can beat amazon’s price!
I highly recommend it, I think it will last my DD until she’s prob 7-8 yo (My average sized 8yo nephew fits!)

I own 2 Britax Frontiers in Pink, and the Graco Nautilus in pink as well. As a Mother who owns both models, I will tell you the major differences between these two seats from my point of view.
#1 Frontier is more expensive (which is why I got the Nautilus for my spare)
#2 Frontier is SO much easier to adjust the shoulder height strap. With a simple squeeze of a lever, the straps go up. The Graco needs to be rethreaded. This is BIG pain when you have another child who wants to use the seat. With the Frontier, it is no biggie to pull the lever.
#3 Frontier seat material is prone to wear where the child’s bottom and legs rub on the seat. It also shows WAY more stains and soaks up spills quicker than the Graco.
#4 Frontier has 3 crotch strap adjustments for easy fitting. The Graco only has 2 which makes the older kids sit on the strap. This can get uncomfortable. My oldest DD takes the pad off of the crotch strap on the Frontier (she says it makes the seat look like a “baby seat” with the pad), but she can not do this with the Graco, as the crotch strap rubs on her legs causing red irritation when wearing shorts. The graco pad is very thick and wraps the entire strap (between the legs) and then goes up to sit on the belly. She does not seem to mind sitting on it, but it does not look too comfortable to me.
#5 Padding on Frontier is WAY thicker (on both seat and seat back)and more comfortable to sit on. I can’t imagine that the Graco would be comfortable for long trips.
#6 Heads slump forward for younger kids when sleeping in the Graco. The “wings” around the head are very fat (giving the appearance of a “yonger child’s seat”) and are so close to the child’s head that it causes it to go forward when sleeping. The frontier has wider “wings” and are perfect for sleeping children. The “wings” are farther away from the head and are angled just right as to allow sleeping and looking out the window. The “wings” are thinner and have more of a “big” kid look. This thinner look in NO WAY implies that Graco is safer for the thicker “wings”, as Britax states that its wings are “true side impact protection”. Graco does not state this. The plastic around wings appear to be of stronger material on the Frontier, even though they are thinner. Frontier also has the “hugs” system on the harness to minimize forward head movement. Graco does not.
#7 The Graco has only a 12.5 inch seat width for the child to move around in. The Frontier has a 12.5 seat area around the tush, but opens to a spacious 17 inch wide seat. This may not be an issue for the younger kids, but the older ones need more space. This may, however, be an issue for small cars.
#8 Cup holder and “hidden” storage are neat in the Graco. The Frontier has 2 cup holders, but they can not both be out, as one hits the door when installed on far right or left. The cup holders also do not go smoothly in and out when installed in the vehicle, as the seat blocks the cup holder from retracting. This does not happen when the seat is not snugged down, but when installed….. This is not too much of an issue as we just leave them out. This is only an issue when I have a third child trying to walk to the back 3rd row between 2 Frontiers with cup holders out!
Bottom line. If you need a car seat around the time that Britax has a sale, I would get it over the Graco. The price difference at that time would only be . I think that your big kids will be happier in the Frontier. If you have a smaller child, remember, he/she will be a big kid soon!

Graco SnugRide Infant Car Seat Base, Silver Reviews

My wife and I have been long-time fans of our Graco infant seat, so much so that we would have been willing to purchase a second one in order to ensure that either my wife or I would always be ready to get up and go with our son when necessary. However, Graco saved us from having to do that by offering this base alone as an accessory.
Some other reviews have claimed that having an additional base isn’t really necessary because LATCH allows you to easily move the base from car-to-car. This sounds reasonable on paper, but breaks down in real life:
* What if one of your cars is older than 2001 and doesn’t have LATCH? Ask anyone who’s correctly installed a car seat or base via the seatbelt and they’ll confirm that it is a physically difficult endeavor. Faced with a choice between regularly undergoing this exertion or else investing in an additional base and then leaving it in place, I’d bet 99% would go for the base (the other 1% apparently enjoy a vigorous workout at the most inopportune times).
* Will you always have the time to switch? When you’re commuting or traveling with an infant, time is an even more crucial resource than usual. Plus, any number of other factors (What if you’re alone with the baby? What if the weather is severe?) could make the prospect of a guaranteed quick departure well worth the spent on a spare base.
* What about unforseen schedule changes? When our son began going to day care, he had to be brought home early on several occasions because of ailments. Having a base in each car meant that either of us could go get him. So if one of was too tied up at the office, we wouldn’t have to stress over begging out of work early during a busy time.
More than a simple convenience, having a base in each of your family’s vehicles is an insurance policy against being painted into a corner when getting around town with your little one. Any working parent will especially appreciate not having to stress over “do I have the car with the car seat?” at any given time. We’ve gotten our money’s worth out of this accessory time and time again.

I got the Graco Snugride in Glen Plaid as a baby gift and bought two silver bases to go with it–one for my car (which doesn’t have latch) and one for my husband’s car (which has latch). His was very easy to install. I had a shoulder belt system in my car and used that with my base. Everything seemed fine, but it seemed as if every time I went over a bump, the carseat would become loose. I couldn’t understand, because my seatbelt locks in place. Someone reminded me that the base comes with a locking clip. (If you look, the directions on how to install it are actually in the owner’s manual for the car seat (and not in the base’s manual)–mine was on page 25). This was the key! Now my base is completely snug. Also, for people who have trouble with the base tilting–it takes a bit of strength, but if you put your knee in the middle of the base while you thread/tighten the seatbelt, it will stay down–of course, this was a challenge with my bony knees! (I learned from a carseat checkpoint, in order to get the base as snug as possible, don’t allow the seatbelt to lock until you have it buckled and the lap part of the belt is snug. Then you can lock the belt and allow it to tighten. You can get it to tighten by pulling down on the shoulder belt part). This is a very snug seat/base, and my son seems to do very well in it. If you need help, go to a childseat inspection checkpoint (you can go to the NHTSA–National Highway Traffic Safety Administration–site and click on Child Seat Inspections. You can search by zipcode or state). Hope this information helps!

Cosco Scenera Convertible Car Seat, Triton Reviews

The number one important feature of any car seat should be the SAFETY RATING! We checked Consumer Reports before buying our car seat and this car seat was the ONLY convertible car seat that was rated “excellent” for crash protection. Safer than Britax, Graco, First Years, Combi, etc. I was quite surprised that it was rated so safe considering the fact that it really is a bare bones car seat. It’s not very soft & cushiony (but hey, neither is our daughter’s papasan swing and she’s been napping comfortably in that thing for 7 months!) and it was a little more difficult to install than the car seat that we’re using in our other car (the Combi Coccoro). But seriously, who cares, it’s all about safety and this car seat is safe. Just make sure when you’re installing it backwards to keep the level line horizontal and it will help you install easier; if the line’s not level the seat will be moving around way too much.

I love this care seat love the fabric and everything else about it, but you can find this same seat at Wal-Mart for 44.00!!!!!!!!!!!

Safety 1st Vantage High Back Booster Car Seat in Nitron Reviews

I liked this because it can be used for a long time. My son is just over 3, but he still needs a 5 point harness, and I wanted him to be able to use it after he’s 4 too. He really likes it because he feel like its a big boy seat. I like the color.
The only downside is that the straps get a little tangled sometimes, but that’s easy to fix. It’s also a little difficult to get the release button down–my son can’t do it himself (maybe that’s a good thing!)and it takes me two hands sometimes. Our Britax car seat didn’t have those problems, but for the price this is great.

We got this seat after reading it was rated number two in Consumer Reports. It’s great! Exactly what my daughter, who is small for her age, needs. We think she might be in it a long time since she might not hit the 40 lb. requirement for Ohio until she’s 14. But she likes it; we like it. And it comes in a great range of colors, although she was hoping for pink… Good value for the price and safe to boot!

Evenflo Discovery 5 Infant Car Seat – Sheffield Reviews

I bought this for my step-daughters new baby boy and she seems to be very pleased with it. She said that it was easier to carry then her old one and she even found the stroller that matches and purchased that. I looked for a couple of days in town and nobody seemed to have anything that was even close in price to this one or that was even in stock. This worked out really well as I feel I got a great price, free shipping and they sent it right to her door. So much easier then shopping in town.

This car seat has to be one of my least favorites. The design is terrible. The car seat literally rocks into the base under a catch, making it difficult to place the car seat into the base and remove it from the base. Add a heavy baby and your headache has increased. The fact that the car seat rocks into the base makes it no safer than any other car seat out there, it just makes it a PAIN to use!

Cosco High Back Booster Car Seat
This high-back booster car seat, designed for children 22 to 80 lbs., features shoulder belt guides and a removable cup holder. Features: LATCH equipped for forward-facing 22-40 lbs, belt-positioning booster 40-80 lbs. Five-point harness, up-front adjustmentFinding a suitable child restraint system when baby outgrows his infant car seat is much easier with the Cosco high back booster car seat. Although car seat laws vary from state to state, the general trend has been to raise age and weight minimums. Many states have already mandated that children should remain in a booster seat until age 8 and 80 pounds. Cosco high back booster seat is a car seat that grows with your child.
One of the most economical car seats on the market from a trusted brand dedicated to safety and value, the high back booster seat provides comfort and protection for your most precious cargo. For toddlers from 22 to 40 pounds and meeting the age requirement to upgrade from an infant seat, the forward-facing restraint system employs an internal five-point harness with a two-piece chest clip to keep your child secure. The seat is equipped with the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system for cars that are capable of using this feature, but it also allows parents to use the automobile seatbelts. It has two harness heights for a better fit, although this does require rethreading. When the top harness guides are below the child’s shoulders and the child weighs over 40 pounds, remove the harness and convert the seat into a belt-positioning booster. The two belt positioning guides will ensure a snug fit. The maximum weight for the belt-position booster seat is 80 pounds. The booster seat is wide and roomy. The padded area around the head gives children space to doze in the back seat.
- 22-40 forward facing with 5-point harness; 40-80 lbs forward facing in belt positioning booster
- Contoured molded shell; Removable, padded fabric pad
- 1 position crotch strap; 2-piece puch button harness retainer
- 2 harness heights; 2 position belt positioner guides on both sides

Cosco High Back Booster Car Seat Reviews

This is a solid seat that will fit well in most compact cars.
I ended up sending this back due to the fact that while the product description says it is for 22lbs and up, the box adds a minimum height requirement (36 inches) that I did not see on Amazon. Quite possibly it’s listed somewhere and I missed the line. Just something to be aware of.

The top clip is not difficult for me to use but my daughter hasn’t figured it out yet – which is the way I want it. I’ve also used it as a booster and I was satisfied with the way the buckle looped through and stayed in place. I also like the strap on the bottom that allows me to add a little slack or tighten it a little. I think that’s a really important feature – especially in this season when my kid may be wearing a jacket one day and none the next and also if you use the car seat for different kids that are similar but not exactly the same size. I have another car seat without that and I find that sometimes I can’t get it closed because it’s too tight and sometimes there’s too much slack.

Traveling Toddler Car Seat Travel Accessory
ATTN: Britax owners. If our product is too short, please check to be sure your LATCH straps are in the forward facing position.
Whether flying on an airplane or traveling by train or bus, it is safest and most comfortable for your child to be in a car seat. But traveling with a young child, their seat, and your carry-on can be tricky. Not anymore. The Traveling Toddler strap allows you to attach your LATCH and top tether equipped toddler’s car seat to a rolling carry-on suitcase. Simply attach the LATCH and top tether straps from the car seat to the Traveling Toddler and adjust the straps so that the car seat is held securely on the suitcase. Once adjusted, the car seat can be detached and reattached to the suitcase in seconds. Lift the handle of your carry-on bag and you have a fun new stroller.
Now there’s an easy and inexpensive way to take your toddler’s car seat and other gear on your trip. You do not have to buy a special seat or suitcase. As long as your suitcase handle locks in place, you can push it like a stroller. Your hands are free for check in and its simple to unhook for security. Keep your child safe and comfortable in their own seat.
The Traveling Toddler has been tested with most major car seat brands including Graco, Eddie Bauer, Cosco, Evenflo, and Britax, and a variety of carry-on suitcases and has worked with every combination. It is important that the telescoping handle of your suitcase locks in place. If not, it might not stay extended when you try to push your child in front of you, though you would still be able to pull them. If flying, make sure that your car seat is FAA approved before traveling.
- Quickly and easily connect your toddler’s car seat to your rolling carry-on suitcase.
- Creates a travel stroller perfect for the airport.
- Slips easily into the pocket of your carry-on when not in use.
- Works with any LATCH, and top tether, equipped car seat (not compatible with European equipped IsoFix seats)

Traveling Toddler Car Seat Travel Accessory Reviews

I recently used this product with my 2-year-old (23 lbs) in a Britax Marathon and a 22″ carry-on roller. Overall, I am very happy with the strap. There are some minor details you need to know, here are the summary:
PRO:
- Your little one(s) will love it, it’s a novelty stroller for them
- Strap is simple and easy to use, it leveages(extends) the car seat’s belt system (top and two sides) to attach to your carry-on roller.
- It works well but make sure to do a test drive at home.
- You will get postive comments from almost everyone you pass by. If you have extra straps with you, you can probably sell them on the spot. Amazon should be paying me for the upcoming business they will get from my word-of-mouth advertisment!
CON: (not really cons but just observations)
- Expectation on size. Not really a con but just a little let-down when you get your package. Has nothing to do with usability.
- Price but still affordable. Probably cost $.50 to make so hats off for the inventor that came up with the idea
- Roller fitting. Make sure to try it with your roller. Three points on this: 1) make sure to pack your roller full, otherwise it’s difficult to “grab” the car seat; 2) make sure your roller’s handle is not a single arm , you will need an opening to thread through the top belt; 3) make sure your roller handle is long enough so you don’t have to bend down too much to pull or push the car seat/roller when attached
Again, overall a fantastic product. I took a star off for the price. Otherwise it’s a great purchase.

We recently used this with my 26 month old son on his Britax Marathon. It was so simple. With my husband’s help, we were able to attach it to the carry-on while my son remained sleeping in his seat. My son is a real busy body and hates strollers, so I worried that he would not want to sit in it during our layover after being stuck in a plane for 4 hours, but he loved it. He actually couldn’t wait to sit in it and be wheeled through the airport. Once we got to our final destination, he actually threw a fit because we would not take the seat out of the car and wheel him inside the house.

The First Years True Fit Convertible Car Seat, Casino Reviews

The First Years True Fit Convertible carseat is the BEST Carseat I have ever seen! If I had seen it when my 3 1/2 year old was growing out of her infant carrier seat, I would have refused my FREE Britax Roundabouts and paid for two True Fits to replace them. I’m so amazed that the seat can go from a tiny infant to a 65 lb. & 50 inch tall child!
I did prefer the infant carseats that detach from a base and have a comfortable carrying handle until my child was too heavy to carry. It’s nice to have a safe clean portable “bed” for the very tiny ones, but after that, the True Fit is the safest and best option!
The seat has all the latest safety features plus a plush comfortable cover and padding. I love that the seat has side impact protection and that the company tests their products. My child is tall and very close to 40 inches & 40 lbs. and she loves the seat. We also tried a friends 8 year old in the seat and she works well too! Love the easy adjustable harness! No more removing the seat and rethreading! YIPEE! I also like that the seat reclines a little – great for naps. One of best features is the built-in seatbelt locking clip. I love that it’s under the seat and will work with any lap & shoulder combo seatbelt. It was easy to get to thanks to the smart cover design!
I have seen some negative comments about there not being enough crotch space. If you leave the infant padding in the seat and try to put a toddler in the seat, yes, it’s tight. The directions weren’t very clear about removing it. If you remove the extra pad for a larger child, the space is great, even for an 8 year old.
It does take a few minutes to install the seat and it’s heavy, but we have a The First Years Compass Premier Folding Adjustable Booster – Pacific Compass B510 booster seat as a second seat for moving from one vehicle to another for short trips. If we had had this seat as an option earlier, we would have purchased one for each vehicle. Divide the cost by 7 or 8 and compare it to some of your other yearly expenses!
We also love the way that the straps can be pulled around the “wings” of the seat when unbuckling the child. They’ll stay there nicely until it’s time to get back in. No sticky velcro to rip your delicate tutus! The straps cushions are a nice feature, but would also like a crotch buckle pad.
Don’t like: The instructions could be better. Do not like the black area under the infant pad and the buckles. Prefer everything a lighter color, so it doesn’t get so hot. We cover our seats with white towels to help. Light shades of tan or gray would be nice.
Love: Comfortable, safe, side-impact tested, soft fabric cover, plush padding. 5 point harness to 50 inches or 65 lbs. Installs tight and works well in small vehicles. Easy to customize the fit without removing and rethreading the harness, multiple crotch strap positions. Built-in locking clip.

The First Years/Learning Curve Truefit is truly an awesome seat! The harness height goes from 10″-18″ (with 4 total slots) and adjusts easily without removing the seat. It rear faces from 5-35lbs, and forward faces to 65lbs. It has lockoffs, so it installs easily with a seatbelt or the lower anchors-the locks offs are easy to use.
The seat has a removeable headrest for infants who are less than 22 lbs (and whose head is 1″ from the top of the shell). This makes the seat easier to fit rear-facing. Once the child reaches 22+lbs, the headrest needs to be put on (and the child should be kept rear-facing until s/he reaches 35lbs or is within 1″ of the top of the shell). Rear-facing is 4x safer than forward facing. My 2 year old son is still rear-facing and will be until he is either too heavy or too tall.
It’s a comfortable seat with lots of EPP foam and padding. The Misty Morning pattern is very soft and cozy. My daughter, at 44″, 42lbs, and a 16″ torso, still fits, height wise, in this seat. She really liked it.
I have (or have had) lots of carseats. Among them, the Evenflo Triumph Advance, the Radian65, Evenflo Triumph V, Britax Regent, and Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe (Britax Marathon clone). The Truefit is easily one of my favorites.
The best carseat is one that fits your child, fits your budget, fits your vehicle, and will be installed correctly EVERY SINGLE TIME! Make sure to read the manual for any seat purchased and know how to install it correctly. And go to a seat check/call a tech if you have any questions.
My children’s safety, in the car, is of prime importance to me. I can keep them safer by keeping them harnessed, in the safest seat/s I can afford, for as long as possible.
